Moment After, 2022
a 1 of 1 by ntent at the intersection of multimedia, performance, and abstract generative art.
Moment After combines the human side of interaction and technology with the ephemeral nature of performance + the permanence of the blockchain.
This piece brings attention to the moment after the climax in any interaction.
Blue Moon performs in the digital piece with several different types of sweets demonstrating the alluring, addictive, and ultimately short-lived pleasures of sugar.
For the exhibition opening, Blue Moon made a performance with conceptual artist OONA to demonstrate the ephemeral nature of praise. Dressed in head-to-toe red latex, the artists invited spectators to blow up a balloon and, without tying it, attach it to OONA’s body either by her clothing or in between body parts. As the untied balloons naturally deflated either suddenly or over time, Blue Moon popped the remaining balloons, leaving OONA as exposed as at the beginning of the performance, now surrounded by shreds of red latex.
Blue Moon was a contributing artist to the “Awaken Your Inner Child” collection by ChangeDAO. Artists were invited to create “refrigerator-worthy” child-like art to raise money for Texas-based child abuse prevention organization Upbring’s Crypto Endowment for Better Childhoods. The collection sold out in 30 minutes and raised over $10,000 for Upbring.
"This piece was inspired by the heart burning with love I feel for the child inside of me, (literally and figuratively) a love that every person deserves. It was created in Microsoft Paint, a digital drawing tool I used often as a child."
Menstrual blood is heavy and sticky. Some parts are thin and others are thick with lumps. This work was an exploration of the texture of menstrual blood, which for most of my life was abstracted through the use of tampons and pads. In this video, the blood sticks to itself as it falls, creating ribbon-like patterns in the water before it finally dissolves into a smoky cloud.
This is menstrual blood collected over the course of 24 hours. Most menstruating people never directly interact with their menstrual blood. It is usually collected in pads, tampons, or fabric. This is a new way to see it, a way to observe the texture and color like never before. observation ➡️ understanding ➡️ tolerance ➡️ connection
Some people say that menstrual blood is the only blood that comes from the body without violence. Others say that there should be more peace around the topic of menstruation.
After serving 3 years in the Peace Corps in Macedonia (now known officially as North Macedonia) as a community development specialist, Blue Moon worked in youth development in Washington, DC. Upon moving to Berlin, Germany, she decided to work full time as a founding partner of ntent.art. Since then, she has spoken on many stages about issues she cares about: sustainability, gender equity, and period poverty, while making art that challenges the status quo and inspires good vibrations.
In Fall 2022, ntent.art donated 1.5 ETH to I Am A Girl, a Uganda-based period poverty nonprofit funded by the sales from the #OneDropNFTs collection.
In 2021, she walked over 250 miles in Minnesota with local Indigenous leaders in protest of the Line3 oil pipeline, which threatens the headwaters of the Mississippi River. Her advocacy on social media attracted over 1.6 million views on social media and inspired countless viewers to join the movement IRL and online.
